Simple Vegetarian Soup for Children
Soup Name: Simple Vegetable Soup for Children
Traditional Chinese Name: 簡單菜湯 (Jiǎn dān cài tāng)
Amount serves: 6 soup bowls
What Ingredients are required?
1 tablespoon of dried shredded conpoys (can use whole ones as well)
2 large fresh corn, quartered
2 large potatoes, halved
3 fresh tomatoes, halved
1 teaspoon of chicken powder (or half a cup of chicken stock)
2 L of water
How do I prepare it?
- Boil your soup water
- When the water boils, add all the ingredients together
- Boil on medium-high for 30 minutes

- This soup contains no fat
- All natural ingredients serves as a hearty meal
- Quick and easy soup to make
- Excellent soup to go with noodles, macaroni, or just on its own and you can add any other vegetables you like (or happen to have in your fridge)
Any precautions?
- Go easy on the chicken stock and powder (as it does make the soup saltier)

This soups sounds delicious and simple! However, between the chicken powder and the dry scallops, I definitely wouldn’t label this as vegetarian!

Can 15 months baby take this soup? I’m worried, is the chicken stock(knorr brand) too salty for them?
Dear Joanne, at 15 months, they should be OK. My youngest (at 12 months) was eating almost everything. I agree with the chicken stock – if at any time, try to go natural, minimize salt and just use fresh ingredients. Avoid the chicken broth if you can and replace with dried scallops, dried shrimp, or just add more veggies such as corn (super sweet), sweet potatoes, pumpkin. Hope this helps and g’luck! Lisa
