Hi LadyTong, am wondering if adding ginger for drinkers with cold-body constitution will negate the anti-cough and phlegm of the soup?

Thank you.

Hi Poohella, you can substitute lotus root or arrowroot with water chestnuts - however their since lotus roots and arrow root are neutral ingredients, while water chestnuts is considered cooling, it's something to consider about the condition of the body and the usage (if it matters). As well, yes, feel free to use pork neck bones and or pork ribs, however these cuts tend to have more fat. Hope this helps! Lisa

Hello, I am wondering if lotus root, or arrowroot may be substituted for the water chestnut? Also, is any kind of in-bone portion of the pig suitable to be used in soups (such as pork neck bones, pork rib, etc.)? Thank You!!

Joyce,
On average, for 4, it will generate probably 2 large bowls each. You can always reduce the soup to less water if you feel it's too much. Soup to me is like the dish that comes before, in the middle and afterward - my family can drink 2 or more bowls each so it's definitely enough for 4. Hope this helps. Lisa
